The Academy of Country Music Awards aired last night and was the first award show of its kind. The 57th ACM Awards moved from broadcast television and premiered exclusively on Amazon Prime streaming service. American Idol alum Carrie Underwood shined throughout the night, taking home Single of The Year with Jason Aldean for their single “If I Didn’t Love You.”
Hosted by Dolly Parton, Jimmie Allen, and Gabby Barrett the night was filled with epic performances from country superstars including Allen, Luke Bryan, and Underwood. Fellow Idol alum Kelly Clarkson closed out the show with a powerful rendition of Parton’s “I Will Always Love You.”
Underwood stunned on the red carpet in a Dolce & Gabbana glittery halter mini dress. The “Before He Cheats” singer matched with an equally shiny clutch and strappy embellished heels. Her first look was just one of three outfit changes throughout the night. While accepting Single of The Year, Underwood wore a multi-colored strapless mini dress. Her all Black dazzling cowgirl look she wore while performing with Aldean completed her fashionable night.
The Voice alum Morgan Wallen took home Album of the Year for Dangerous: The Double Album. Wallen’s win is already facing heavy backlash from music fans. The singer faced criticism when a video resurfaced of him using the N-word. After apologizing Wallen still had the biggest selling album in 2021.

Carrie Underwood: Queen of Country Music
With Underwood’s latest win, she now has sixteen Academy of Country Music Awards to her name. In 2010 the singer made history when she became the first woman to win Entertainer of the Year twice. As of 2020 Underwood is the only woman to win in that category three times. She has also continued her record as the most awarded American Idol winner in the show’s history.
Since Underwood’s American Idol win she has dominated in the world of country music. The Academy of Country Music Awards first awarded the singer in 2006. That year she won Top Female Vocalist and Single Record of the Year.
Now sixteen years later Underwood is still breaking records as she reaches legendary status. Her “If I Didn’t Love You” duet with Aldean hit number two on the US Hot Country Songs chart. Carrie’s last album My Savior was her first gospel album. The 2021 album is nominated for Best Roots Gospel Album at this year’s Grammy Awards.
